As the energy and excitement of Homecoming week settles down, Thoreau High School wants to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation to every single staff member, our phenomenal custodial team, and the community of Thoreau. As you all know, Homecoming is one of the biggest weeks of the year, and it simply wouldn't be the success it was without your hard work, dedication, and the countless hours spent behind the scenes.
Thank you very much!!

✨ Exciting News from the Student Support Center! ✨

Today, we welcomed our first round of student interns as they fill out their paperwork and get prepared for a successful semester ahead. These students are gearing up to gain hands-on, real-world work experience that will help them grow both personally and professionally.

Through this internship program, students will have the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the workplace while earning pay from their employers—both inside and outside of the school district.

We’re proud of their initiative and can’t wait to see all they will accomplish this semester! 👏🎉

It has been a busy summer for GMCS/SFE food service!
We distributed 30,000 meals in the form of 5-day meal kits to many children in the community.

We prepared hot meals onsite at 5 Gallup area parks using our hot dog carts! We served burgers, BBQ, and other kid-approved meals to our community kids!

Plus, we offered hot meals at all 33 GMCS school sites for all children during July. At SFE, feeding kids is our favorite summer activity!

Thoreau High School - Through the Lens of Media Showcase-This event showcased student-led projects that demonstrated media integration across both cross-curricular and single-subject instruction, specifically in ELA, Science, Math, and History. Students used a variety of tools—including digital presentations, posters, Canva design tools, and research strategies—to explore academic content and present their findings through engaging media formats. As part of the process, students also reflected on their learning using the GMCS Graduate Profile, emphasizing key skills such as communication, responsibility, and critical thinking.
